His Story

Asit grew up in Morgan Hill, California, a small town just south of San Jose. After attending Live Oak High School, he attended U.C. Berkeley where he majored in physics and political science. Subsequently, Asit attended and graduated from New York University School of Law.

Asit began his career in the South Bronx where he worked at the District Attorney’s Office for six years. He was responsible for hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases including grand jury presentations and jury trials. He interviewed witnesses and police officers before making charging decisions. Asit negotiated pleas and decided which cases to take to trial. He responded to crime scenes where he took statements from witnesses and suspects. He advised the police in their investigation. Asit was a highly successful attorney who understood the impact criminal cases have on people’s lives.

Asit then moved to San Francisco where he joined the District Attorney’s Office. He handled domestic violence cases, juvenile cases, sex crimes and homicides. In the homicide unit, he conducted five trials with a 100% success rate. Defense attorneys, prosecutors and judges held him in high esteem. He left the District Attorney’s Office in 2013, and started his own practice.

For the past four years, Asit has been defending clients from allegations such as domestic violence, DUIs and gang charges. He has successfully persuaded DAs to dismiss charges, expunged his client’s convictions, and obtained acquittals.

In the civil world, he has  successfully filed against the Santa Clara County Superior Court for violating the American Disabilities Act.  Last May, he argued in California Supreme Court and convinced them to expand the right to referendum in  City of Morgan Hill v. Bushey, et al., S243042.
